Meet Our Suppliers
We love to work with like-minded people who farm and craft with environmental and community awareness. Here are some of the local vendors who collaborate with (and inspire) us.
Nice Bunch
FLOWERS
Founded by Sula Jones (née Bailie) and her husband Oliver, Nice Bunch is an ethical floral design studio and flower farm. Based in Bath, Somerset, and London, they create bespoke compositions for installations, events, weddings and special bouquet orders.
"We cherish the bounty of the British countryside, which means our work is naturally, seasonally-inspired. Our world of inspiration appreciates fluttering wildflower meadows, plentiful country gardens, and the fun that comes with flower heads that bob and dance together in the breeze. So we bring together an abundance of colours and shapes from the natural world to create a textured, wild and playful aesthetic."
Close Farm
FRUITS & VEGETABLES
Close Farm is located in the Badminton Estate in Tetbury and is managed primarily by Farmer Fred. The seven acre farm contains a market garden, field crops, polytunnel banks, and an extensive collection of traditional and rare apple trees – arranged to create crop alleys that enable crops to be grown between the trees, feeding on the leaves and other detritus that falls and fertilises the ground.
HRH Prince of Wales’ belief in the advantages of organic farming resulted in the decision in 1985 for Duchy Home Farm (of which Close Farm is the fruit and vegetable section) to be turned into an organic farm – both for livestock as well as crops. This endeavour took place back when organic was still a relatively new concept – a bold move at the time.
In becoming organic, the Prince of Wales has worked closely with organisations such as Soil Association, Sustainable Food Trust, Garden Organic and Organic Research Centre.
Fifty Trees
OLIVE OIL
Sophie and Alex Martin (parents to one of the founders of Martin & Malthouse) make traditionally crafted, unfiltered, single estate extra-virgin olive oil in southern Greece, sustainably produced on small organic farms, including their own fifty tree grove.
Sophie is a special needs teacher, Alex is a writer and historian (his crime novels are published under the name Leo Kanaris). Having grown up in England, they decided to spend more time amongst their ancestral origins. They fell in love with the Greek land and the artistry by which local communities live at one with it, and moved there permanently. They have never looked back.
The oil is cold-pressed to ensure ultra-low acidity and extra-virgin purity. Each year’s distinct harvest brings delicate aromas and tasting notes guaranteed to elevate your kitchen experience.
